The Coventry — 253 & 261 Church Street, Oakville

Twelve suites over four floors, a block from Lakeshore Road in downtown Oakville. The Coventry is one of the smallest condominium buildings in the town’s core, and the suites are among the largest — none of them under 2,400 square feet.

Twelve suites means availability here is rare and rarely advertised for long. About the building

The Coventry was completed in 2009 by Legend Homes, with the condominium corporation registered that October as Halton corporation 558. The architecture is deliberately traditional — a low, Parisian-inflected facade that reads as a townhouse block rather than a condominium.

The building spans two civic addresses, 253 and 261 Church Street, under one structure and one underground garage. A listing may use either, so search both.

  • Developer: Legend Homes

The suites

Suites run from roughly 2,435 to 3,189 square feet across four levels, with a range of layouts and exposures. Twelve units in a four-storey building means large floor plates, few neighbours and a degree of privacy that a tower cannot offer. For buyers leaving a house in southeast Oakville but not wanting to leave the neighbourhood, this is one of the few buildings in town that offers comparable space.

Amenities

  • Rooftop deck
  • Underground parking and visitor parking
  • Security system and entry phone
  • BBQs permitted
  • Pets permitted with restrictions

This is a boutique building, so the amenity list is short by design — there is no concierge, gym or party room. The trade is space and privacy rather than shared facilities. Note that at least one suite has a large private rooftop terrace of its own, which is a separate thing from the building’s common rooftop deck; confirm which is which for any particular unit.

Maintenance fees

Fees at The Coventry cover common elements, heat, water, building insurance and parking. Air conditioning and hydro are billed separately.

Some listing sites state that air conditioning is included. The building’s own listing records say otherwise, and the status certificate is what settles it for a specific suite.

The building is managed by Central Erin Property Management.

Own a suite at The Coventry?

In a twelve-unit building, one sale sets the reference point for everyone else — and a town-wide average tells you nothing at all. We track what has actually closed at 253 and 261 Church Street, and what did not sell and why. Call (905) 338-2083 before you rely on an online estimate.

The neighbourhood — Old Oakville

Church Street runs parallel to Lakeshore Road a block north, which puts The Coventry inside the walkable core without putting it on the main retail strip. The harbour, Navy Street and the Lakeshore shops are all a few minutes on foot.

Real parks close by, on the Town of Oakville’s own listing:

  • Towne Square, 210 Lakeshore Road East — roughly a three-minute walk
  • George’s Square, 179 Trafalgar Road — roughly four minutes, and home to the Veterans’ Wall memorials and the cenotaph
  • Wallace Park, 245 Reynolds Street
  • Market Square, 54 Navy Street, and Centennial Square, 130 Navy Street
  • Lakeside Park, 12 Front Street, and Erchless Estate, 8 Navy Street, at the harbour

Dining and coffee within walking distance includes The Queen’s Head, Colossus Greek Taverna, The Crepe Kitchen and the Lakeshore Road cafes. Film.Ca Cinemas and the downtown galleries are a short walk or drive.

Getting around

There is an Oakville Transit stop on Church Street itself, at Church and Dunn — the downtown terminus of Route 1 Trafalgar, which runs via Navy Street, Trafalgar Road, Kerr Street and Speers Road to Oakville GO Station in about fourteen minutes, every fifteen to twenty minutes through the day.

Oakville GO Station, 214 Cross Avenue, is roughly two kilometres by road — a short drive, a twenty-minute walk, or that ride on Route 1. It is on the Lakeshore West GO line and is also served by VIA Rail. The QEW is a few minutes north via Trafalgar Road.

Schools

Downtown Oakville is served by the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board, with Oakville Trafalgar High School among the secondary schools in the area. Catchment is assigned by address and the boundaries change, so confirm the current assignment for 253 or 261 Church Street directly with the relevant board rather than relying on a published list.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Coventry

Who manages The Coventry? The building is managed by Central Erin Property Management, under Halton condominium corporation 558. Martin Group is a real estate brokerage, not the property manager — for status certificates, rules or building operations, contact management directly. We can help with buying, selling or leasing a suite here.

Can I rent a suite at The Coventry? Occasionally, but rarely. With only twelve suites in the building, leases come up very infrequently and are often filled without ever reaching the open market. Call (905) 338-2083 and we will let you know when something moves.

Why does The Coventry have two addresses? Because the building spans two civic addresses, 253 and 261 Church Street, under one structure and one garage. Listings use one or the other, so searching only 261 will hide roughly half of what has traded there.

What have suites at The Coventry sold for? In a twelve-unit building, published averages are close to useless — a single sale moves the number. We track what has actually closed at 253 and 261 Church Street, including what came off the market unsold. Call (905) 338-2083 for the real picture.
