SAINT-PHILIPPE CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Saint-Philippe Catholic Elementary School is a thriving French-language Catholic school in Burlington’s LaSalle neighborhood, serving approximately 300 students. As part of the Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud (Catholic Central-South District School Board), Saint-Philippe is committed to fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and cultural enrichment in a fully immersive French-speaking environment.

Located at 901 Francis Road, west of Burlington near Plains Road, the school offers a welcoming community where students develop strong language skills, embrace Catholic values, and prepare for future success in a bilingual world.

A Rich History of French Catholic Education

Saint-Philippe School first opened its doors in September 1969, sharing space with an English-language Catholic school. By 1976, the growing demand for French-language education led to the establishment of a dedicated school building, named Saint-Philippe, in honor of Philippe Desjardins.

With eight classrooms and a small gymnasium, the school continued to expand, adding seven portable classrooms over the years. In 1984, a significant renovation added:

  • Eight new classrooms
  • A larger gymnasium
  • A resource center

This expansion provided enhanced learning spaces and modern facilities for students and educators.

French-Language Daycare – Centre Copains-Copines

Saint-Philippe School is home to Centre Copains-Copines, a French-language daycare that welcomes children from the Burlington region. This daycare provides early childhood education in a French-speaking environment, helping young learners build a strong linguistic foundation before entering the school system.
